Barriers and limits of research in ethnomusicology as evidenced in the recordings of the Working Committee for Czech National Folksong in Moravia and Silesia in 19019-1912

This contribution analyses particular situations occurring in the course of the phonographic recording by the Working Committee for Czech National Folksong in Moravia and Silesia headed by Leoš Janáček in cooperation with Hynek Bím and Františka Kyselková in the years 1909–1912. The purpose of the reflections is to give particular examples of limitations of the ethno-musicological research represented by various external and internal causes, and generalise barrier models characteristic for ethno-musicological research in the past.
